Valerie Green (b. 1981) explores the idea of interface as it relates to photography, technology, and generation. Through many layers, her works challenge expectations of actuality and virtuality as she moves images fluidly between digital and analog photographic processes. She received a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2006 and an MFA from California Institute of Arts in 2011. Her work is currently included in “Step & Repeat” at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG) as well as two PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibitions: Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and Digital Capture: Southern California and the Pixel-Based Image World at the California Museum of Photography. Her work has been shown in exhibitions internationally and has been included in the Tasweer Photo Festival in Doha, Qatar, Culver Center for the Arts at UC Riverside, Torrance Art Museum and the Aperture Foundation in New York. Green’s work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), The Getty Museum and the California Museum of Photography among others. Green is represented by Moskowitz Bayse in Los Angeles.
